roundup / pillow palooza

Hello, and happpppy hump day!

I have to apologize to my friends that follow me on Pinterest... I have been blowing up everyone's feed with pillows. Yep! PILLOWS. Haha. Adulthood is prettttty silly. Who knew I'd freak out over pillows at 27? Well, probably a lot of people, actually...

Anyhow... I love a good throw pillow. As a designer that religiously reads interior/lifestyle design blogs and magazines, I just can't help myself. Pillows are the jewelry of the interior design world. After all, you dress up a LBD with jewelry to make a statement... wouldn't you dress up a LBC (little black couch... it doesn't make sense, I know... haha) with pillows to make a statement? Yes, yes you would.

Call me crazy (and terrible at saving money), but I buy new throw pillows all the time. We only have so much room in our house, and so many places to "throw" pillows, but I get so excited over a graphic pattern or velvet finish that I just can't resist. When I was younger, I thought it would be SO cool to have a pillow room as an adult (meaning, you step into the room and it's just covered in pillows, wall to wall). I think this stems from my obsession with bean bag chairs... who knows, but what I do know is that I love pillows.

My general rule of thumb for interior decorating is to keep it neutral. Paint the walls neutral, keep the couch neutral, and accessorize around those elements - with pillows, vases, blankets, etc. That way, when you wake up one day and realize that you absolutely HATE the color mauve, you won't have to go out and buy new furniture and paint your walls once again.

As soon as we bought our house, Tim and I painted all of the walls on the first floor. The previous owners loved earth tones (mustard yellow, sage green, brick red - see some "before" pictures here) and I was not a fan. Tim was concerned, and rightly so, that our entire house was going to look like it was straight out of Scandinavia (all white, all wood... my obsession). I assured him that I would cover the house in colorful accents and it would look like Crayola exploded in our house if our walls were colorful, too. He is now very much on board with this approach. It almost feels like we're curating a museum.

Anyhow! I digress. Is anyone still reading? :)

The whole reason I started writing this post is because I wanted to talk about one of my favorite retail websites, Society6. This site is guaranteed to overwhelm you, but it's SO amazing if you have the patience to navigate through the thousands of options. When I discovered this site for the first time, I literally felt like my mind was blown. You can choose your favorite pattern and buy it as a print, a stretched canvas, a coffee mug, a T-shirt, a shower curtain, a RUG (!)... the list goes on and on.

Imagine my excitement when I found out that I could pick from thousands of different PILLOWS. Though I can't speak to the quality (I have yet to purchase any pillows from here - I plan to soon!), the price point can't be beat. $20 for a pillow cover in an awesome print? Sign me up. I was also verrrrrry pleased to discover that they now offer outdoor pillows as well. If you have been following along with my posts here or on Instagram, you know that Tim and I have been overhauling our back deck. We need more outdoor pillows.

Are you pillow-crazed like I am? Have you bought anything from Society6 before? If so, let me know how you like their products!
