Hellooo! Happy 2015. We are 8 days into the New Year, and it absolutely feels like we're in the throes of a Midwest winter. I hope that everyone in the below freezing and sub-zero temps is staying bundled and driving safely today!
It has been about a month since I last blogged... and part of me doesn't even feel bad about it! I'm kind of okay with it. The keep-to-a-regular-schedule part of me is nagging the why-rush-things part of me, and that's okay. December is always a whirlwind in the most wonderful way. Between work deadlines and big projects, the holidays, the flu (ugh) and everything in between, December came and went in the blink of an eye.
Tim and I are SO lucky that our immediate families live in town. We spent the holidays laying low at home, cleaning (like a banshee, I might add! I don't even know who I've become), working on our bathroom (more to come), cooking, and just relaxing. It was fabulous. I got sick with the flu before Christmas, and it's tagged along with me into the New Year. Tim also caught the bug, so we kept hydrated, slept, and watched a ton of Netflix. It was a great way to end the year and just slowwww downnnn.
Since we started dating eight years ago (!!), I've been asking - sometimes begging - Tim to draw or paint something for me. He minored in Drawing at CIA (majored in Industrial Design), and is an amazingly talented artist. Unbeknownst to me, Tim spent the month of December secretly painting me a stunning landscape of Capri, which was our last stop on our honeymoon. The scene he chose to paint was the last picture we took on our honeymoon. I cried, of course, and now this painting is as special to me as I feel like a first child would be. Now I want a painting or drawing for every single room, and I'm mentally making a list. He is going to be busy ;)
A few other things that we are working on: we're nearing the end of our bathroom "semi-renovation", and I can't wait to post pictures soon! The before, and what we lived with for 2 years, was atrocious and it's embarrassing that we didn't tackle that room sooner. More on that later. (Sorry for the poor quality photos! It's all I had)
I also garbage-picked my first piece of furniture (with the help of Tim's muscles)! This desk was sitting on one of my neighbor's tree lawns, and as soon as I drove past I started panicking. I knew I needed it, I knew I couldn't carry it, and I knew someone would snatch it soon. I called Tim and he drove home from his friend's house (during a Browns game, no less!) to help me carry it into our garage. It's a beaut! I plan to sand down the entire desk to fix the damaged areas and remove the stain, then apply coconut oil and seal it with furniture wax. I cannot WAIT.
I hope you all had a great end to 2014! Thank you so much for following along and reading my blog. Since I started blogging back in February, it's been a huge learning experience for me. I can't wait to jump into this year with new, inspiring content!
Happy 2015, everyone!
