Although it's only early August, fall is on my mind and I know I shouldn't admit it, but I can't wait for cooler temperatures, cozy sweaters, and falling leaves. These calming abstract works by BorianaM are just what my eyes need to ease into fall.

The mixed media collages and acrylic paintings are just the right combination of neutral palettes and imperfect textures. I have this particular piece in mind to mix in with our otherwise cheerful, bright prints and paintings we have at home. Her style almost makes me question my love for color, but then I regain my senses and realize there's no way I can live without bright, loud colors in my life!

I have a thing for hand lettering and painted flowers, so I was excited to stumble across the work of Abby Hyslop. She is a designer at Target by day, and a hand letterer and artist by night. I love the imperfect nature of her work, the cheerful phrases, and the bright color palettes...

art for my sweet tooth...

Lately I can't seem to get sweets off my mind. It's probably in part due to the fact that I'm married to someone with a sweet tooth as big (or bigger!) than mine, or because it's January and everyone is eating healthy, and my brain & taste buds are rebellious. Either way, I want a sweet with each meal and it's really becoming problematic... sugar is ruling my minddd. Lemon bars are my weakness, and if you throw a Meyer lemon in there, consider me in heaven. Tim prefers ice cream - always, always.

I've been thinking about putting some art on the walls in our currently naked kitchen, and I can't help but think an ice cream / sweets print would be totally appropriate...

I'm leaning towards #1 or #6. There is something so sweet (ha! pun intended) about little scoops of ice cream topping a sugar cone, with a touch of whimsy, texture and playful illustration styles. Which one is your favorite? Are you hungry now? Sorry... ;)

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed "falling back" this weekend and took advantage of the extra hour of sleep. I was more productive on Sunday than I can remember, so I attribute that to several espresso shots and a bonus hour of sleep. Also, it's November...!?

While the leaves are still on the ground, I wanted to share this beautiful portrait series called "Plant People" by Emily Isabella. She uses various flowers, foliage, and objects found in nature to create the hair of these whimsical ladies...

Which lady is your favorite? I think my favorite is lady #1 with the red lipstick and Parisian chic vibe.

I hope everyone has a productive, meaningful Monday!
